Jermyn Street’s Open Door Series will be honouring the brands and businesses that make our street the home of gentleman’s style, and the pinnacle of British craftsmanship, by spotlighting your favourite brands, and the people behind them, as we invite you through our doors once more!

Favourbrook was started by Oliver Spencer in the mid 1990s, when he began designing memorable clothing for memorable occasions.  To this day, the brand specialises in formalwear with flair for both men and women, and their Piccadilly Arcade premises exclusively sells their waistcoat and accessories collections.

Oliver Spencer was just out of art school when he first began trading clothing at Notting Hill’s famous Portobello Road Market.  After having the opportunity to purchase leftover ecclesiastical fabrics from Stephan Walters’ silk mill, he created his first waistcoat collection in 1993.  This was the start of Favourbrook as we know it today.

Favourbrook produces small runs of menswear and womenswear, and is one of the few formalwear brands to remain independent.  Favourbrook’s continued success is down to their innovation; adding flair and panache to all they do.  They take a modern approach to crafting their menswear, and combine a delightful British eccentricity and style with traditional formalwear practices to make unique gentleman’s pieces.  Don’t be surprised to find flashes of colour and eye-catching floral print waistcoats amongst their more traditional offerings.  Their womenswear pieces are elegant and timeless, with an emphasis on fabrication and effortlessly flattering silhouettes.  Favourbrook pieces ensure that the wearer’s personality always shines through, never losing individual style no matter how formal the occasion.

Favourbrook create formalwear for people with a passion for textiles, and the quality of their materials has always set them apart.  They are proud that all of their pieces are handmade in the UK and Europe.  Favourbrook scour British mills for the best fabrics, combining durability with beautiful design, and every one of their pieces is made to the same exacting standards.  Favourbrook have long had a relationship with Royal Ascot and are, yet again this year, an official licensee of the world famous races.

Though the brand has evolved so much from its first incarnation on Portobello Road, the waistcoat is still very much an integral part of their offering.  In fact, the iconic 1994 film, Four Weddings and A Funeral, features some of Oliver Spencer’s boldest designs in all their glory.  Visit the Favourbrook store in the Piccadilly Arcade to browse over 400 waistcoats and luxury accessories, and have the pleasure of in-person Favourbrook service once more.
