Earlier this year, Saatchi Yates opened a gleaming new gallery space, right in the heart of St. James’s. From 1 November – 22 December, the pioneering London gallery will present a debut solo exhibition of Catalunya artist Elena Garrigolas. Using drawing as a way to express herself, the artist takes inspiration from dreamscape, internet culture and personal experience, to create an eclectic array of ‘visceral’ and ‘bewildering’ imagery. A series of 17 new works which relate to her upbringing features anthropomorphic characters that explore themes around motherhood, ageing and beauty, inspired by feminist artists such as Frida Khalo, Nancy Spero, and Paula Rego.
