The brand was founded by Robert Emmett in 1992 and his first store was on the King’s Road in Chelsea. Due to the success they experienced on the King’s Road, Robert went on to establish his store on Jermyn Street in 2006, taking his place among some of the finest and most respected shirtmakers and craftspeople in the world.
Emmett London has always had a modern and confident air, striving for a quirky, characterful twist on the classic Jermyn Street style. They are known for their commitment to exclusivity and their trademark contrasting patterns beneath the double cuff of every shirt. When you purchase an Emmett London shirt, you know that only 24 other shirts have been produced in that design. Over four hundred designs are made per season and new styles are available every week, so there is always something for everyone. Emmett London’s drive for exclusivity does not mean their shirts are expensive. Their prices are accessible, while still supplying customers with garments constructed from the highest quality materials. Emmett have also made a commitment to sustainability, constantly evolving to reduce their carbon footprint and ensure the fabric companies they collaborate with, in Italy, France, Switzerland, and Portugal, Spain, are doing the same. Many of the dyes they use are vegetable-based and the water is treated after use to be chemically neutral. With this forward thinking and conscientious approach, Emmett are setting the tone for shirtmaking to come.
In addition to their ready-to-wear shirts, upon the opening of their Jermyn Street store, Emmett also began offering a made-to-measure service where customers can choose exactly what they want and need from their shirt, suit or separate. Emmett offer over 100 different collar styles and 1000 fabric choices, allowing their discerning customers full self-expression in their beautiful made-to-measure garment. Their Jermyn Street store has new styles arriving every-week, keeping the modern gentleman in meticulously-made, exclusive finery all year round.
