This winter, Fortnum & Mason welcomes British artist and author Charlie Mackesy – whose The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse became a global phenomenon – to The Parlour for a heartfelt new collaboration.

To celebrate the launch of his second book, Always Remember: The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, the Horse and the Storm, Fortnum’s has transformed its first-floor Parlour into a world inspired by Mackesy’s beloved characters. Visitors can enjoy bespoke illustrations adorning the walls and a limited-edition menu that reflects the artist’s gentle philosophy of kindness, courage and cake.

At the centre of it all is The Mole Cake – a three-tiered Victoria sponge created by Executive Pastry Chef Roger Pizey, celebrating the Mole’s unwavering love of life’s simple pleasures. Available until 4 January, guests can enjoy a slice at the Patisserie Counter or settle in for tea and cake in The Parlour itself.

In true Fortnum’s spirit, each slice also does good – with £1 from every cake donated to Centrepoint, supporting young people experiencing homelessness.

A sweet celebration of compassion, creativity and cake – perfectly at home in St James’s.
