16 June – 23 August
The much-anticipated Royal Academy Summer Exhibition returns this June, bringing together an extraordinary celebration of contemporary art and architecture in the heart of Piccadilly. Now in its 258th year, the Summer Exhibition remains the world’s largest open-submission art exhibition, showcasing over 1,500 works by established artists, Royal Academicians and emerging talent from across the globe.
This year’s exhibition has been co-ordinated by acclaimed artist and Royal Academician Ryan Gander, who, together with the Summer Exhibition Committee, explores the theme of Interconnectedness — reflecting the relationships that unite people, ideas and creative practice. As always, the exhibition offers visitors the opportunity not only to discover and enjoy an exceptional breadth of contemporary art, but also to purchase works directly, with proceeds supporting both the exhibiting artists and the Royal Academy’s charitable work, including the training of future generations of artists through the Royal Academy Schools.
A highlight of London’s cultural calendar and just a short stroll from Jermyn Street, the Summer Exhibition is an inspiring addition to any summer visit to St James’s.
